We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.

As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.

We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. For almost fourteen years, our Regional Minister, Rev. John Richardson, has led this movement in North Carolina. On Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 5:00 PM at First Christian Church in Wilson, we will express our love and esteem for John and Jeannine Richardson as we celebrate John’s retirement.

You are invited to reserve your spot for this momentous occasion. Tickets are $25 each. You may purchase them using the attached form. Please note that reservations must be received in the Regional Office by October 28, 2016.

You are also invited to honor John’s ministry by contributing to his legacy gift. A legacy gift celebrates the calling of God on a person’s life and gives witness to a calling fulfilled. In addition, a legacy gift plants many seeds which will allow the service to our Lord to continue. It also tells the story of a person’s life.

John Richardson has led our Region in the work of the Church at home and around the world. When he was asked to identify a legacy gift to honor his service, it was no surprise that he selected the Bolenge Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Much equipment is still needed there to support the medical needs of the area. These gifts will support the transforming power of the living God through the healing ministries of the hospital. Such a legacy will be far reaching. It bears witness to the grace John has experienced and shared with many others. Gifts to the Bolenge Hospital will honor the calling given by the Lord and answered by a man who heard and responded. You can find instructions on how to make a contribution on the attached form. May each of us give unto the Lord that others may be blessed.

Another way we will honor John’s service to North Carolina will be the presentation of a memory book of letters, pictures and mementos.  We welcome for inclusion personal letters of appreciation as well as letters from congregations and regional organizations.  Pictures, written descriptions of special moments, programs from special events, and other expressions of thanksgiving are also appropriate for inclusion.  The memory book will be 8 1/2 x 11 in size, and submissions may be sent in hard copy or electronically to Beth Burton-Williams, 3400 Crantock Road, Smithfield, NC 27577; firstccs@centurylink.net by October 28.

Indeed, John’s ministry has been a blessing to our Region. He has been our shepherd and has had the patience to know us well and the heart to care for us deeply. Through the celebrations and the challenges, John has held fast to his integrity and kept close to his faith. We encourage everyone to make a special effort to be a part of this celebration as we honor this great milestone in John and Jeannine’s life together.

If you wish attend this celebration, please complete the reservation form today.
